THE PROSTITUTES OF LYON SPEAK (Zum Internationalen Hurentag)

Im Frühjahr 1975 besetzten etwa zweihundert Prostituierte die Kirche Saint-Nizier in Lyon, um auf ihre prekären, von Gewalt, Ausbeutung und gesellschaftlichem Ausschluss geprägten Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen aufmerksam zu machen. Vor der Kamera von Carole Roussopoulos legen sie als „Frauen und Mütter“ Zeugnis ab, um ein Ende der polizeilichen, steuerlichen und sozialen Schikanen zu fordern, denen sie ausgesetzt sind. Die Interviews werden in Echtzeit auf Monitore außerhalb der Kirche übertragen und konfrontieren die vorbeigehenden Menschen auf der Straße mit den bis dahin tabuisierten Themen.

Die Filmvorführung wird durch tagebuchähnliche Passagen sowohl über den Tag der Besetzung als auch über die gewaltsamen Räumung der Kirche eingerahmt. Die Passagen stammen aus dem Buch „Die geteilte Frau“ von Barbara & Christine de Coninck, gelesen von Stella (Bündnis „Hurenaufstand 1975“) und Mia Rose (Aktivistin, ehemalige Sexarbeiterin und Mitorganisatorin von family affair – Selbsthilfegruppe von und für Sexarbeiter*innen, Leipzig). Im Anschluss sprechen sie zusammen mit Christiane Dohrn, Pfarrerin der Peterskirche, und Giovanna Gilges, Sozialwissenschaftlerin und Vorständin der Gesellschaft für Sexarbeits- und Prostitutionsforschung e.V. , über das bevorstehende Projekt und den Film.

Die Veranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit dem Bündnis „Hurenaufstand 1975“ statt, welches das Projekt „HUREN* IM HAUSE DES HERRN“ zum Internationalen Hurentag organisiert.

ENG: In spring 1975, around two hundred prostitutes occupied the Saint-Nizier church in Lyon to draw attention to their precarious working and living conditions, which were characterized by violence, exploitation and social exclusion. In front of Carole Roussopoulos‘ camera, they give testimony as “women and mothers” to demand an end to the harassment they are subjected to by the police, tax authorities and society. The interviews are broadcast in real time on monitors outside the church, confronting people passing by on the street with topics that were previously taboo. (French with english subtitles)

The film screening is framed by diary-like passages about both the day of the squatting and the violent eviction of the church. The passages are taken from the book “Die geteilte Frau” by Barbara & Christine de Coninck, read by Stella (Bündnis “Hurenaufstand 1975”) and Mia Rose (activist, former sex worker and co-organizer of family affair – self-help group by and for sex workers). Following the screening, they will talk about the upcoming project and the film together with Christiane Dohrn, pastor of St. Peter’s Church, and Giovanna Gilges, social scientist and director of the Society for Sex Work and Prostitution Research.

The event takes place in cooperation with the alliance „Hurenaufstand 1975“, which organizes the project „HUREN* IM HAUSE DES HERRN“ for the International Whores‘ Day.
